Sports Premium

At Willow Primary we receive £19,300 to invest in our pupils sporting experiences. We are committed to using the funding to develop high-quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sports competitions, and clubs for our pupils. Funding for our school is calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual census in January.

What does the Sport Premium mean for Willow Primary School?

'Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this’ (DfE June 2013).

At Willow Primary School we allocate funding with the following considerations;

  • The engagement of pupils in regular activity.
  • Raising the profile of sport & PE as a tool for whole-school improvement.
  • Increase confidence, knowledge & skills of staff.
  • Broader experience of a variety of activities.
  • Increase participation of competitive sport.

Our school reflects on the impact of funding from the previous year & identifies areas for development. Based on the impact of the pandemic, our school is committed to created experiences that may have been reduced or missed in previous months.

The School Games Award

We are proud to have been awarded the School Games GOLD Award for commitment to raising participation in Sports in 2019 and in 2022.  (The school games award was suspended during the covid pandemic so was not available in 2020 and 2021)
