W/C 5th July 

In English this week, we are writing the first draft of our Tropical World leaflets.  We are looking for you to include the features of a leaflet, which are 

  • Title
  • subheading
  • positive language
  • different types of sentences eg questions, exclamations, commands and statements.

We would also like you to include co-ordinated conjunctions and subordinated conjunctions. Please take a look at the song links for support.

If you do not have a copy of our Key Text then there is a link below to listen to the story. 

During this sequence the children will be learning and practicing the skills needed for a setting description. This will lead to them writing their own setting description at the end of the sequence. The children will be focussing on adjectives and expanded noun phrases as well as recapping capital letters and full stops. 

To complete this weeks weeks English, the children will be writing the plan for their setting description. Please see plan document below for template. The children are to look at the rainforest picture and around the outside they are going to describe the picture using expanded noun phrases. For example - a gigantic, old tree. This will help give the children some ideas of what they could include in their setting description when they write it next week.
